How to Help Your Student With Grammar
Grammar mistakes make good ideas look sloppy, and they are usually a handful of the same errors repeated. Fix those few and writing jumps.

Try it nowWhy students struggle with this
Grammar is rarely taught as patterns students can remember. Once they learn the handful of rules they keep breaking, most errors disappear.
What you can do at home
- Nail the big three: their/there/they're, your/you're, its/it's.
- Read it out loud. Run-on sentences and missing commas are easier to hear than see.
- Teach commas as short pauses that separate items and clauses.
- Fix one repeated mistake at a time instead of everything at once.
